We're Sign Senei, and we run live online CPD for communication professionals. We care about your privacy, and this page explains, in plain English, what information we collect, why, and what your choices are.
Who we are
Sign Senei is a UK-based business. We decide how your information is used, which makes us the "data controller" under UK data protection law. You can contact us about anything on this page at cpd@signsenei.co.uk.
What we collect and why
When you book a session: your name, email, ticket type, and anything you add at booking (for example access needs). We use this to run the session and send your joining details and confirmation of attendance. Lawful basis: contract.
When you attend a session: your name as shown in Zoom and whether you attended. We use this to confirm your attendance and support your CPD record. Lawful basis: contract.
When you join our newsletter: your name and email. We use this to send our newsletters and email updates about upcoming sessions. Lawful basis: consent, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
When you use our contact form or email us: your name, email and message. We use this to reply and help you. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
When you chat with Rhys, our AI helper: your messages, and any details you choose to share. We use this to answer your question, or to pass it to the team if Rhys can't. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
When you ask for an interpreter or other access support: details of what you need. We use this to make the session accessible to you. Lawful basis: consent.
When you visit our website: basic technical and cookie information set by Wix. We use this to keep the site working and understand how it's used. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, and consent for non-essential cookies.
We only collect what we need. Please don't share health or other sensitive details in the chat or the contact form unless you need to. If you tell us about access needs, we use that only to support you.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We use trusted services to run Sign Senei, and they only use your details to provide their service to us:
Wix (our website, contact form and Rhys the AI helper)
Booking and ticketing services, such as Humanitix (they also have their own privacy policies)
Email and newsletter services (to send and receive our emails, newsletters and updates)
Zoom (our live sessions)
Other trusted software we use for everyday admin, such as preparing emails and attendance confirmations
Our hosts (Sign Senei team members), who see your name only, to take the attendance register. We never share your contact details with presenters, though presenters and other attendees can see the name you use in Zoom during the session.
Some of these services store data outside the UK. Where they do, they use legal safeguards approved under UK law.
Rhys, our AI helper
Rhys is an automated AI assistant, not a person. He answers questions using information from our website. Your chat messages are stored by Wix, and we may read them to help you or to improve our answers. If you'd rather speak to a person, just ask Rhys or email cpd@signsenei.co.uk.
Payments
When you book, our booking service takes your payment. We never see or keep your full card details.
Facebook and WhatsApp
If you comment on or message our Facebook page, or follow our WhatsApp channel, we only use what you share to reply to you and keep you updated. Facebook and WhatsApp have their own privacy policies, which also apply.
Keeping your information safe
We use strong passwords and two-step sign-in on our accounts, and only the Sign Senei team can see your details.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies to work properly and to show us, in general terms, how people use it. You can choose which non-essential cookies to accept on our website, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Links to other websites
Our website links to other sites, such as Humanitix, Zoom, Facebook and WhatsApp. They have their own privacy policies, and we're not responsible for how they handle your information.
How long we keep it
Bookings: kept by our booking services (such as Humanitix) under their own privacy policies, for as long as we have an account with them.
Attendance records we keep ourselves: 2 years, to cover the UK regulators' CPD cycle and any later requests for proof of attendance.
Booking or payment records we keep for tax purposes: up to 6 years, as the law requires.
Newsletter details: until you unsubscribe.
Enquiries and chat messages: 2 years, then deleted.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
give you a copy of the information we hold about you
correct anything that's wrong
delete your information (unless we need to keep it, for example for tax records)
stop sending you the newsletter (every email has an unsubscribe link)
stop or limit how we use your information
Just email cpd@signsenei.co.uk and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
